I have had a life-long fascination with all things creepy crawly and still vividly remember exactly how this came about. My qualifications include a BSc in Zoology, a doctorate (PhD) and higher doctorate (DSc) in amber palaeobiology.
I am an Honorary Lecturer
in the Faculty of Life Sciences (Preziosi Lab
) at the University of Manchester, UK. My expertise stems from more than two decades of research mainly in amber palaeobiology and fossil and extant spiders.
I am a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society, a Fellow of the Linnean Society, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, a Chartered Scientist, a corresponding member of the Arbeitskreis Bernstein (Amber Council), Hamburg, Germany and am a Patron of UKAFH.
I am available for school education visits (see relevant page on this website) and also run the book publishing company Siri Scientific Press
. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family and picking up very heavy things in the gym!
